It was late, and Pimpernel had been close to retiring before the bell began ringing frantically. Striding to his study with the letter clutched in his hand, the skirts of his robe flared behind him like the wake of his ship. "A quick glass of claret" he called to the panting messenger hurrying behind, "and then to France!…"

Elegant, luxurious, sumptuous - it's made from so much velvet and silk taffeta it's almost decadent. Just the thing to keep out the chill while taking your morning draught of caffeine or an evening glass of claret.

Based on 18th and 19th century examples, this double breasted house gown is made from 100% cotton velvet in a rich burgundy and lined in black 100% silk taffeta by James Hare. Reaching down to the ankles, it features two capacious pockets with three-point flaps, high collar, stylish broad lapels and flared button cuff. Once you've put this on you will find it extremely difficult to take off again!

Ankle length robe in rich burgundy velvet lined in black silk taffeta.  It's made from so much velvet and silk it's almost decadent. Wear it as a smoking jacket, a house gown or even for a night at the opera - it's completely up to you!
